I believe that active communication and listening skills is key to a students' improvement in their learning. Without it, there is no point in teaching something that is finally going to ended up misunderstood or even not understood at all. Receiving and providing active feedbacks between students and tutor is essential for the tutor to provide…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to assist them to create and meet their personal academic goals, rather than just working on higher grades. This can also include a tutor sharing academic experiences in achieving their goals to allow a student to see if the tutor is right for their specific circumstance. I think the…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to understand their students and the way they learn! This means bringing up different approaches to studying if one does not work for the student and ensuring that they are listened to and supported at all time! Tutors should not shame their students and work on more than just achieving…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student, is to ensure they feel welcome. Student's should feel comfortable in order to actually take in valuable learning. I believe, it is important for the student to actually enjoy the environment they are in; should not be made to learn in a hostile or unwelcome environment. This aspect can be…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to give them confidence. In my experience most students had the intrinsic abilities to do well at their studies but faltered due to perceived nervousness and pressure. It is hugely important to show the students that you believe in their abilities and that there is no problem that…

Allowing them to take an initial step to understanding by themselves, and when they need help, guide them to the right path without completely providing the whole answer. This encourages critical thinking amongst students and shows them that they are capable enough to learn these hard concepts that they may be dealing with. Ultimately, teaching…

The most important things are to give students support in the way that they need it. Tutors should always be there to answer students’ questions with respect and patience, and cultivate an opening environment where students are not afraid to say that they don’t understand something. We have experienced a really positive response from all we have dealt with at EzyMath Tutoring. The tutor provided is a good fit for my son. My son is always really encouraged and feeling good about himself after each session with his tutor. We are seeing results already.

Inside BerwickTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Jasmine focused on rearranging algebraic equations and interpreting linear graphs, including identifying x- and y-intercepts to plot points.

For Year 4, Sam practised the 3 times tables and worked on adding fractions to make a whole, using hands-on activities with fraction cards.

In Year 9, Liam tackled trigonometric ratios by solving for unknown sides and angles in right-angled triangles using sine, cosine, and tangent, alongside forming equations from worded problems.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student hesitated to complete assigned homework on linear equations, which slowed progress in mastering new problem types—"Jaz really needs to be completing the couple of homework questions each week as this will help consolidate what we do in lessons."

In Year 11, one student struggled with test timing; running out of time meant unfinished responses on decimals and place value.

A Year 7 learner's written work was sometimes messy during BODMAS tasks, making it harder to spot calculation errors quickly.

In upper primary, one student avoided tackling harder worded questions alone, often waiting for prompts before starting.

Recent Achievements

One Berwick tutor noticed a big change in Chelsea (Year 10), who now sets out her work much more logically than last year—this has meant fewer mistakes and she can rearrange equations with barely any prompting.

In Year 9, Kayla showed real independence when she quickly picked up how to convert between mixed numerals and improper fractions, placing both types accurately on a number line without help.

Meanwhile, Emma in Year 4 managed to smash through her time test almost entirely on her own this week, needing hardly any support from the tutor.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Bunjil Place Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Margaret's Berwick Grammar.
