The best thing any Tutor can do is make a student like a particular subject which she/he used to previously dislike. This means that the Tutor has made a boring subject interesting to the students. And in this way, the student will remember what he/she learns for a lifetime and not just for the purpose of examinations. I am a very patient Tutor,…

At a foundational level, it's most important to ensure the student feels confident with the material they're learning. As a first step, it's important for a tutor to assist in honing in and helping the student practice so that their skill level matches the basic requirements of the subject. Then the next most important thing a tutor can do for a…

The things I consider most important for tutors are clarity, confidence, and independence. Clear explanations can turn topics that a student might shy away from into smaller ideas that they can relate to and therefore understand. Confidence grows when you celebrate small wins and frame mistakes as part of the learning process. Afterwards,…

Helping my students to gain a capacity to solve more questions by themself is the most important thing. A good tutor, besides academic understanding, communication, patience and flexibility are the key aspects. I liked the follow up calls making sure we were getting what we needed. It was all arranged as advised for our first lesson in a timely manner. The tutor was always contacting us to select an appropriate time for us and for herself. The tutor was good at explaining and directing my daughter how to solve and approach the math problems. If I didn't get redundant and have unexpected expenses, I would be proceeding with the classes. But will be looking to use the services in a month's time once my finances are in order.

Inside CraigieburnTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Shania focused on trigonometry concepts in sections 4A and 4B, working through problems step-by-step to strengthen understanding.

In Year 9, Harleen completed work on linear equations (1A), moving from foundational basics to solving more complex equation questions with increasing independence.

For a Year 10 student, Jay tackled statistics by completing exercises in section 9A and starting 9B, applying calculation methods for data analysis and interpreting results using practice sets.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8, one student often left homework incomplete and "needed more consistency in homework," especially when revising box plots and composite shapes—this led to weaker recall during lessons.

For a Year 10 student, reliance on mental calculation without written steps meant negative signs were frequently missed; as noted, "she needs to focus more while solving questions involving signs and rearranging the numbers."

Meanwhile, a Year 12 learner hesitated to write out all working for matrix multiplication problems, slowing progress with complex operations. Without regular revision or full step-by-step solutions, gaps widened when tackling unfamiliar or multi-step tasks.

Recent Achievements

One Craigieburn tutor recently noticed a Year 10 student who used to hesitate with trigonometric ratios now independently tackled complex word problems and confidently prepared for an upcoming test.

Another high schooler, after struggling with algebraic equations using the null law, began solving them without prompting—showing clear initiative compared to earlier sessions.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who previously rushed through perimeter questions took extra care this week to check her working, catching mistakes herself before moving on. In their last session, she solved every word problem about circumference correctly without needing hints.
