A tutoring environment differs from a school environment by the personal connection and the attention to detail from the tutor. As a tutor, I believe it is important to connect deeply with each student, paying close attention to if they fully understand each topic and if they feel confident and motivated with their work. I believe a personal…

In my opinion understanding each students learning preferences is very important. Every student has their own unique method of learning. My job is to understand their strengths and weakness and adjust my teaching style according to their needs. Besides teaching them methods of solving questions all the time. I prefer to help them to understand the concepts and theorems about certain topics, I believe that's more useful and effective. I am patient, energetic and friendly. And I was a high student not long ago, so I can understand and get what my students may feel is difficult to…

Help them enjoy learning. The role of a tutor should be to engage the student and make the learning process fun, encouraging them to put more effort into their learning, consequently improving their results. As well as this, it is vital that a tutor guide the student to a solution rather than simply giving them the answer, allowing them to…

One of the most important things I can do for a student is to help them understand the real value of what they’re learning. I do this by connecting concepts to real-world applications, sharing examples from industry and research where even a single idea can lead to major advancements. By showing the impact and relevance of each topic, I…

I believe that a tutor should not just provide answers to a problem, the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is teach them how to think to solve problems. This is why teaching maths or physics should go beyond drilling procedures, formulas and theorems into a student's head - tutors should encourage students to develop a wholesome…

The most important thing would be to create a safe space for students, so they will feel welcomed and understood. This can build their confidence as well. Once they feel safe, the students can ask any question and tutor can help them and fill their knowledge gap. My strength would be perseverance, adaptability, and emphaty. I would try and give…

Mathematics is all about practice and being exposed to different variations of questions, and a tutor should be able to acknowledge the students' situation and prepare the most suitable practice exercises for them. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is aid them in being confident enough to always attempt a problem. My strengths as a tutor come in my genuine passion…

Inside KyeemaghTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 Sasha focused on algebra questions and consolidating her understanding of positive and negative integers through targeted practice.

Year 9 sessions with Liam addressed trigonometric ratios, including basic applications of sine, cosine, and tangent, as well as graphing these functions.

For Year 11 student Emily, recent lessons explored quadratic equations—covering both factorising techniques and use of the quadratic formula—plus applied skills to real-world problem scenarios.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Mathematics, a student did not attend the scheduled online lesson despite reminders; as noted, "sent her texts and emails before the class, which she has not replied." This gap disrupts progress on planned tutorials.

Meanwhile, in Year 9 Algebra, incomplete homework was an issue: "must take his homework seriously, otherwise he will suffer the consequences of poor results."

A Year 8 student erased working out repeatedly rather than showing full steps—"erases work with an eraser instead of keeping working out"—making it harder to pinpoint misunderstandings during problem-solving.

Missed feedback and hidden errors slow improvement in both cases.

Recent Achievements

One Kyeemagh tutoring session saw a Year 10 student independently catch a calculation error before the tutor did, showing real engagement rather than just following along—he used to be more passive with problem-solving.

In another high school example, a student who had previously skipped writing down her maths working now consistently records every step and talks through her reasoning out loud.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner tackled mixed numerals for the first time and was eager to attempt challenging questions on her own, asking for extra practice worksheets without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Brighton-Le-Sands Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Kyeemagh Public School.
