Teaching effectively so that the student can understand the content. It is important to make the students do their own work, rather than doing it for them as they do not learn effectively if the tutor does the work for them. The tutor must also commit to every class and treat every student equally with respect. - My strength are maths and…

One of the most important things would be the environment the tutor and student are in. The more comfortable but slightly stressed-out the students are, the more productive the tutoring session would be. Another essential aspect of tutoring would be the ability for the tutor to deeply understand the concept themselves in order for them to simplify…

The most important thing a tutor can do is first be patient and actively listen to what students need. Build confidence in them so that they can feel included and contributed in class. Their curiosity is ignited, and they are more likely to ask questions in class and read additional texts about things that interest them. Uncover learning styles…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to make them realise that they are not studying just for the mark, score or ATAR but rather to benefit themselves first, and benefit the people around them. Strengths that I believe I have as a tutor is that I have excellent social skills and I am a pretty chill person so I can get along…

I believe making a student become confident in their own ability is very important. Students sometimes have doubts themselves and I believe I can encourage them to be confident and actually enjoy learning. The most important thing would be to connect with the student, be on the same wavelength. If you can connect with your student then you can understand their struggles learning the content. It also allows the student to be more relaxed and less stressed which aids in their learning. If they see the process of getting tutored as a chore or a burden…

In my opinion, it is of utmost importance that tutor could make student love and curious about the subject as it will encourage self-study later on. Inside Pleasure PointTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Mia worked through homework tasks involving perimeter and length, as well as addition, multiplication, and division to check her maths level.

In Year 7, Emily focused on solving algebraic equations for x and practiced multiplying monomials and binomials in preparation for upcoming topics.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Lucas tackled linear relationships by graphing straight lines from equations and explored coordinate geometry using example problems.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10, one student often hesitated during multi-step algebra and geometry problems, pausing for reassurance before writing answers—"she kept asking if what she was writing made sense," a tutor noted. This pattern led to incomplete working and sometimes missing final answers in tests, especially under time pressure.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 learner's bookwork became difficult to follow when fractions with unlike denominators appeared; inconsistent layout hid errors until they were pointed out.

In both cases, anxiety about correctness slowed progress and left key steps unpracticed, causing confusion during more complex or unfamiliar exam tasks.

Recent Achievements

One Pleasure Point tutor recently noticed a big change in a Year 10 student, Leila: she's started catching her own mistakes and back-checking answers before the tutor steps in, which wasn't happening a few weeks ago.

During practice exams, she now explains where she went wrong and corrects herself without prompting.

Another high school session saw Leila confidently ask for tougher graphing questions after finishing the standard set—a first for her, as she used to hesitate with new topics.

Meanwhile, a younger student who previously struggled with fractions completed an entire worksheet on adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators independently.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Panania Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Panania Public School.
