To be understanding and try to put yourself in their shoes. Don't just assume that if it is easy for you, it might not be easy for them to comprehend. I think it is important to build a relationship first before judging the student. I am patient, understanding and encouraging to my students. As a tutor, I believe that I have to ensure that the…

I believe one of the most important things a tutor can do is to help the student find confidence that they can achieve, whilst keeping their passion alive for the subject. A tutor is there to help students find the answers so they can realise their full potential. Through my work as a science communicator, I have the ability to alter and tailor my…

I think a tutor's most important role is to build the confidence of students by providing them with personalised teaching that helps them connect with the topic. I believe that many students can get lost in large classrooms and they require a more individualised program to grow their confidence and achieve their goals. I believe that the knowledge…

A tutor should always be available for their student. According to me, a tutor should always try to convey their message as politely as they can which should be in a language a student can easily understand I am confident and have great leadership skills. Being myself a student I can easily understand the mindset of a…

The most important thing a tutor can do is create a safe, encouraging space where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. It's crucial to not only help students understand the material but also to build their confidence and show them that they are capable of solving problems on their own. Providing the right level of…

Understanding each student and building confidence in time. Teaching them learning styles that might be less stressful and improving their study skills. The most important things a tutor can do is to build the confidence of a student, which gives them a passion and enjoyment for learning. My strengths as a tutor would be patience and the ability to break down complex ideas into simpler parts. I'm also a good listener, which helps me identify where a student might be having difficulties and help…

Best way a tutor can do is explain student's doubts in simple way and motivate them in problem solving skills. Better communications with students regarding subject matter and finding the root cause behind the performance can be fruitful. I am good in explaining things. I believe an important role a tutor has is not only easing a student's fears about a subject (in particular Mathematics), but encouraging them when the student feels disheartened over task loads or low grades. I also believe tutors must help students develop healthy self-study habits that encourage them to try solving problems themselves before…

Also look for different ways to make each student understand as everyone learn and understand things differently. I use fun ways to make people understand the subject instead of telling them you have to know this. I will make sure people understand…

Inside Reynella EastTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Nathan worked through linear equations, with a focus on finding the equation of a line and distinguishing between parallel and perpendicular lines, as well as reviewing slope using real-world examples.

In Year 10, Lily practiced solving quadratic equations and learned to find both indefinite and definite integrals, including applying the integral of 1/x and using u-substitution for more complex problems.

For Year 12, Ethan tackled confidence intervals by calculating minimum sample sizes needed for reliability, while also practicing integration techniques for polynomial and trigonometric functions.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student left his "mini-theorems" book at school, which meant he couldn't check key facts for geometry problems.

In Year 10, a tutor noted, "he was missing marks on simultaneous equations because his written working was hard to follow."

Several Year 11 and 12 students hesitated to attempt challenging integration or probability questions, instead revisiting familiar examples.

One senior student didn't create the reference sheet discussed for an upcoming test, making revision less targeted.

After a setback in a trig test, another became reluctant to review errors with the teacher—feedback went unused and confidence slipped quietly.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Reynella East recently noticed some great progress across different year levels.

One Year 10 student, who used to rush through geometry proofs and get stuck on the logic, is now following each step more carefully and can apply angle theorems with only a little prompting.

In Year 11 maths, a student who was hesitant to ask for help has started speaking up when confused about derivatives, which means she now gets through challenging calculus questions much faster.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student made a breakthrough connecting fractions, decimals, and percentages after struggling to see how they fit together—she finished her worksheet linking all three without any errors.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Woodcroft Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Reynella East College.
