The best thing teachers can do if their students are struggling is approach their learning in a personalized way, really getting to know their habits and specific challenges they face. There's nothing like having that one person who knows your study habits inside out, especially when it comes to science. Unfortunately, in classrooms, that's not always possible.

Although rule dependence isn't good in older grades, she should still try to use rules to learn the basics. This is the main thing that is holding her back with some equations. She has good self-confidence and understands that it's ok to be wrong.
In general Jake seems to be interested and work well at questions he understands but quickly loses focus and interest when a question is not immediately easy for him; Jake will need to learn to improve his focus so that he can keep up in class and build a little perseverance as it is unlikely that he will always immediately grasp something. Jake also needs to improve on remembering how to do questions and the steps involved. This will come from a better understanding of the questions in general.
Hugo's problem areas are steadily getting fewer and fewer. There are still a few areas which didn't receive the best attention at school that need to be properly covered, but we're making solid progress. Hugo's greatest downfall is in exam performance. Where possible, he should try and take practice exams in exam conditions (such as a set time limit) to prepare himself.

Everything is going well with Dexter. Jordana gets on really well with her, and finds Dexter explains things very clearly, and has been a great help already with her understanding of Maths.
Jakob and Cara have a great working relationship and cover alot of content in each session. Cara's confidence and maths skills have grown considerably since commencing tutoring.
Amity is enjoying her tutouring. She is very pleased as she recently received an academic award at school meaning she had received A for all subjects for last term. So we are very happy with Xiaoya.
