Cartia was enthusiastic for the game at the start of our lesson. Her quick addition to 10 is clearly improving and she was even able to change the game and try quickly adding to a new number throughout the game. She also asked good clarifying questions today which showed she was actively trying to understand and apply the concepts.

Cartia struggled a little bit to focus today and tried to avoid questions she found tricky at first glance. I would encourage her to confront harder problems, breaking them down to basics and believing in her ability to solve the problem.

Cartia did well applying herself to the tasks and I could see her generally trying to understand concepts that she has previously been confused about (eg. recognising 7+3 is the same as 3+7 and being able to distinguish tens and ones from each other)

Developing addition skills and recognising patterns such as which pairs add to make 10

Cartia started to understand the column addition method and began to complete questions that did not involve carrying

Addition with carrying and strengthening foundational concepts such as number placement
