I think tutor should do everything for his or her students because after the parents only teacher is one person who can very closed for the student. Tutor should look after their students and if they have any bad habit then it's tutor responsibility to guide them in right direction and also inform their parents. Tutor can make hard subject into…

I believe the most important things a tutor can do are to build confidence, create clarity, and inspire motivation. A good tutor doesn’t just explain answers — they guide students to think critically and develop problem-solving skills. By being patient, encouraging, and consistent, tutors help students feel supported and capable. I also…

If I can make a student begin thinking more about the subject than just a grade to obtain, I would have felt that I made one more curious person. Curiosity is the root of knowledge in my opinion, and it would be the seed that I can share with the students that I engage with. I believe, they would lie in science, especially with regard to my…

Above all else, I believe a tutor should prioritise student wellbeing. Beyond academic achievement, it's essential to foster a sense of belonging, confidence and self-worth in each student. This involves attentive listening, emotional support, and creating a safe, judgement-free space. Additionally, empowering students to take ownership of their…

I believe the most important things a tutor can do are: 1) provide clarity, 2) build confidence, and 3) foster independent thinking. A good tutor doesn't just help students get the right answers, they help students understand the process and develop the skills to tackle future challenges on their own. Encouraging students to ask questions, think…

I think that it's really important to be a good listener so that you can use feedback from students to improve your teaching. Not everyone learns in the same way so it's really important to work with each student to find the learning tehniques that work best for them. It's also important to recognise that each student could prefer different…

A good tutor can change the student's mindset and make them better people. Having a good tutor makes the subject automatically interesting and students tend to invest more time and put more effort into it. I am a very patient and dedicated person. Taking initiative to bring the student out of their comfort zone. In a lot of cases, students fear showing their lack of knowledge, especially in group settings. However, it is important for the tutor to recognize this and invite the student into the circle of discussion and let them contribute. It is crucial to create a safe space that is…

A good tutor should create a comfortable environment where the student should feel free to ask questions, identify gaps in their knowledge, and gradually making students capable of solving problems on their own. I consider a tutor responsibility towards students is to be committed and flexible. The tutor should be with their student even if both have been going through the exam period. The tutor should never cancel on a lesson with a student for their own studies. As well, it is a must to be patient towards the student and be flexible as a tutor to learn…

Local Reviews

Everything is going very well, thank you very much, we are very happy with the tutoring Harshdeep is providing to Manon, he is very thorough.
Magali, West Leederville

Inside West LeedervilleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Ava focused on converting between decimals and fractions as well as practising division with decimals.

Year 10 student Lewis worked through practical applications of quadratics, creating a page of summary notes to prepare for his exam.

For Year 12, Emily tackled calculus skills such as maximising and minimising functions using differentiation, along with kinematics problems involving motion graphs.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8, one student often skipped drawing diagrams for trigonometry questions, which made it harder to spot angle domains and led to repeated errors.

During a Year 10 test, forgetting to keep track of units meant extra time was spent correcting conversions rather than moving forward with the main problems.

A senior (Year 12) learner "missed feedback from earlier attempts," as a tutor noted, resulting in the same algebraic sign mistakes showing up again when working through quadratic factorisation.

In each case, small process gaps snowballed—turning manageable tasks into lingering hurdles.

Recent Achievements

One West Leederville tutor noticed a big shift with a Year 11 student who had struggled to connect graphs and equations—now, he's confidently drawing linear and piecewise graphs from their equations and can also work backwards, deriving equations from the graphs.

A Year 9 student who used to mix up mean, median, mode, and range is now able to find each one correctly in different data sets without hesitation.

Meanwhile, a younger student in Year 5 began asking for help when adding or subtracting negative numbers instead of guessing, especially after working through the ladder analogy together.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Subiaco Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like West Leederville Primary School.
