Chemistry Tutor Pendle Hill, NSW
Based on my personal experience of teaching, I firmly believe that one of the most crucial aspects of facilitating student learning is establishing a strong rapport with each student. This involves actively listening to their thoughts and feelings regarding the subject matter, and cultivating a nurturing student-teacher relationship founded on…

Listen to their ideas and help them realise how they can be moulded to fit the criteria that is set for them to meet. This is also coming from my own perspective of what I'd expect, as most times teachers impose their ideas on students and they are left alone to not be able to think for themselves. I can explain concepts quite well, and I make…

To be attentive and to address the students personal needs for growth. The tutor should set an ideal example in terms of behaviour motivation and actions- one which a student should be able to look up to but also resonate with. This allows him to engage with the student at a personal level and provide better more relatable academic support, but…

The important thing a tutor can do for a student is to assist students in overcoming their challenges with a patient and empathetic approach. Given students' difficulties at school, tutoring sessions should provide a supportive and stress-free environment. Moreover, each processes information at their own pace. Therefore, besides helping with…

A tutor should help the student work through uncertainty, refine their approach to learning, and build confidence in their ability to progress. Equally important is fostering a stable and respectful…

The most important thing would be to give the student confidence in their learning and knowledge since without confidence, the student can crack under the pressure of exams. The ability to think outside of the box in order to help my students where if they don't understand it in one way, then it would be beneficial to explain to them in another…

From both my own experiences of being tutored, and being a tutor myself, the single most important thing a tutor can do for a student is create the space for them to be honest when they don't understand something, or when an explanation isn't working for them. When this is achieved, the tutor can tailor their resources, preparation and…

One of the most important things tutor can do for a student is provide them with a lot of feedbacks as well as lots of revision. It is from feedback that students understand where they have been going wrong and how to improve on it. Revision is essential because knowing content is one thing, learning to apply them is another. I consider the ability to create good habits from a young age as one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student. However, for older students, it’s also very important to make sure that your students are completing the work to their full ability. It’s important as a tutor, to be able to help them through this and help support…

Just being a support for the student in question. Now, obviously, the first idea to jump to there is academically, and this is super important, of course, but also school is a naturally difficult time for a lot of students for a large variety of reasons, and even if the tutor nor student realize it, being there to help dealing with it is a massive…

I believe a tutor must not only be an academic mentor but must also help students maintain a positive outlook on learning. Although learning can be difficult at times for students, it is important that tutors can empathise with them and provide the most suitable advice to motivate students and help them maintain a resilient mindset. I believe…

Although high results is a must, tutors should also respect or accept what students may want to gain out of their HSC marks. We cannot force students to learn but making the content more interesting will help motivate those who struggle to grasp the concept. The key point is that after every session, the student can leave knowing that they have…

I think one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to enrich their understanding and reinvigorate or catalyze a passion in a particular subject. Nowadays, a student's passion for a particular subject dwindles as they go further and further into their high school career. This may be due to external factors such as pressure or…

Inside Bossley ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Emily worked on coordinate geometry, focusing on the distance and midpoint formulas as well as finding gradients and equations of straight lines using both algebraic methods and graph interpretation.

For Year 11, Dhyani concentrated on legal studies by reviewing contemporary sources of Australian law and exploring Aboriginal Customary Laws through discussion and multiple-choice questions.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Daniel revised how to find the highest common factor in algebra equations and practiced simplifying fractions for confidence with foundational skills.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 Maths, one student did not complete the set homework, which limited her ability to recall indices and trigonometry methods during revision. As noted, "she tends to forget the steps when completing a question after she does them," highlighting a need for regular at-home practice.

In Year 6 English, another struggled with vocabulary range and sentence structure—missing opportunities to apply more sophisticated language in written tasks.

A Year 10 learner became distracted during lessons and was sometimes late; this meant new content (like straight line formulas) had to be retaught rather than built upon, slowing overall progress.

Recent Achievements

One Bossley Park tutor noticed a high school student who used to hesitate when stuck on math questions now regularly asks for help and even explains her reasoning back to the tutor—especially with tricky trigonometry problems she struggled with last term.

In another session, a senior student in Legal Studies took the initiative to research relevant cases herself and brought personal insights into class discussion, a big shift from previously relying on the tutor's explanations alone.

Meanwhile, an upper primary student made a leap in times tables recall after weeks of struggling, finishing her practice set entirely without prompts for the first time.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Wetherill Park Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Prairievale Public School.
