The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to find the strengths and weaknesses of the student, so that they know how to customise the learning material for the student, and to track their learning progress in each lessons, by giving them feedback on what should be improved and what part should be appreciated of. It takes me years to…

Building a foundation of work ethic and problem solving which will continue to serve them throughout their education. I believe that I create a comfortable environment for a student to learn. I explain problems clearly and make sure…

I think making students feel like they're being seen and heard is a really powerful thing, and to make clear that a tutor isn't just a fixed resource like a book or a video but someone you can interact with and learn from just from someone being there to guide you. I think learning from someone showing you is so much more powerful than just…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to build confidence and self-esteem. Often, people feel discouraged or left out when unable to keep up with their class. They become withdrawn and tend not to believe in their capabilities. By teaching a student challenging topics, I am simultaneously quelling all notions of…

Encouraging them and reminding them that their school marks are not what entirely defines them as a good student. On top of providing them with academic support and guidance that they can apply to other fields. For instance, how to structure an exemplar essay or simply how to construct a study timetable. Finding unique ways to interpret notes and…

I think tutoring is about confidence just as much as academic ability and performance. I believe a good tutor not only teaches the content and helps the student to learn, but also encourages them to feel confident in themselves and their work, and motivated to do their best. I believe the secret to academic success is confidence, especially…

In my opinion, these are: -High level of emotional connection to really see the needs of the student. -High adaptability in its own way of teaching, since maybe there is a different way in which the student can understand more and/or better. -Patience, especially in subjects that are tricky to get. I have a very applied way to understand…

Being able to formulate different approaches on the go is something a tutor should be able to do in order for the students to understand at their own pace. A tutor should also be patient in order to make the student feel welcomed whenever they are in a predicament academically. Other than that, a tutor should be friendly so the students feel…

I believe a tutor can make all the difference to a student struggling with their studies. School teaching can often be mechanical and impersonal; an environment where some students find it difficult to learn. I know first hand that teaching in smaller groups or one-on-one works is much more effective at learning hard to grasp concepts. The impact…

Identifying the best technique to teach the student is the best thing a tutor can do. Students learn much faster when they are taught according to their methods of learning. Any tutor needs to know that learning can't be forced. What's important is for us to help them to ignite the flames of passion to learn a subject through a fun and interactive session. Which ultimately, helps them to better understand everyday life by applying what they learned. Like how everything can be formulated into equations and how food…

A good tutor should be all about building up a student's confidence, giving them helpful feedback, and providing personalized support. Giving feedback that's not just critical but also positive helps them see their strengths and areas to work on. And…

It is so important for tutors to adapt their method of teaching to the way the student learns. Every student not only has different needs and difficulties, but learns concepts differently. It is extremely important to regularly re-evaluate the student's objectives. Modifying your approach as a tutor to make the student feel comfortable and…

The most important things a tutor can do are to be patient and kind. My greatest asset as a tutor would be my ability to really zone in on any problems a student may have in particular. This comes from being able to put yourself in their position before answering their questions and trying to be as tailored to every students learning ability. Also to be highly motivated to impact the greater good which will be…

Local Reviews

I found that once I contacted ezy math someone got back to me in a reasonable time frame. My daughter seems to be happy with the tutor that was picked. So far the experience has been great.
Rebecca, Chippendale

Inside ChippendaleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Alice worked on operations with decimals and reviewed how to calculate area, using visual examples.

In Year 10, Tom focused on linear equations—finding equations given points or gradients—and practised simplifying fractions rules.

For Year 11, Ruby tackled financial mathematics with simple interest problems and explored arithmetic and geometric sequences using sigma notation.

Recent Challenges

In Year 12, one student left her calculator at home and struggled with trigonometry questions—"needs to be more prepared next time to bring calculator when having lesson," noted a tutor.

Meanwhile, in Year 8 algebra, incomplete homework meant confusion lingered over how variables interact; the set practice was not attempted before the next session.

A Year 11 student's tendency to write only final answers during financial maths revision ("did not show steps for rearranging formulas") led to missed errors and difficulty reviewing work later.

Each of these moments resulted in slower progress or repeated mistakes during lessons.

Recent Achievements

One Chippendale tutor noticed a big shift in a Year 10 student who, after previously getting stuck on binomial expansion, now completes these problems solo and even applies the formulas to new case studies without prompting.

In Year 11, Paige has started initiating her own working on algebraic equations and makes far fewer calculation errors than before—she used to need constant reminders but now checks herself as she goes.

Meanwhile, a younger student who once hesitated to ask for help with fractions is now confidently spotting and correcting her own mistakes mid-task, recently fixing an error on her test entirely by herself.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Darling Square Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Inner Sydney High School.
