The most important things that an english tutor must do for students is to always demonstrate patience and love towards them. It might take time for them to understand the lesson so you have to bear with them. My strengths as a tutor is that whenever I revisit lessons that I learned in the past, I am passionate to learn/relearn about them and I…

Identifying a student's weaknesses and strengths not only in a subject but in their general approach to life is very important. Honing strengths and working on weaknesses will allow tutors to tap into a student's potential. Deeply considering how and why a student is performing the way they are is also very important and allows changes to be made.…

In my opinion the most important thing an english tutor can do is make sure that the student truly understand the various concepts taught. That is because my belief is that by understanding the concept rather than memorising, you are less likely to forget how to do the question in the exam and/or get a mind blank As a tutor, I think my strengths…

One of the most important things that an english tutor can do for a student is understanding and respecting them. Not all students understand concepts taught in the same manner, hence, tutors need to find innovative teaching…

Inside DharrukTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 3 student Sidney practised counting forwards and backwards from three-digit numbers, used number lines to compare values, and worked with Australian coins to sort and count money.

Year 10 Omar focused on solving non-linear equations through guided worksheet revision and also began planning a discursive English essay using film scenes from "Pleasantville."

Meanwhile, Year 11 Zara strengthened her understanding of surds and indices by converting between index form and surd form, simplifying expressions, and rationalising denominators in algebraic problems.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student in algebra skipped showing steps while working with surds, making it difficult to catch small sign errors—"he jumped straight to the answer and missed a negative."

In senior chemistry, a Year 11 student relied heavily on summary notes during acids and bases revision, which limited deeper understanding when faced with unfamiliar questions.

Meanwhile, in English (Year 7), brainstorming for essay writing was productive but incomplete homework left some ideas undeveloped.

During primary maths (Year 3), one child mixed up minute hand readings after losing focus toward lesson's end, leading to confusion when telling time.

Recent Achievements

One Dharruk tutor saw a Year 11 student who'd been hesitant with surds and indices start converting between surd and power form independently, even tackling simplification steps without prompting.

In another high school session, a Year 10 student who used to freeze at expanding brackets began working through problems faster after getting the hang of rationalising denominators, pausing only to check her answers.

Meanwhile, in primary maths, Sidney struggled to count by tens from numbers like 63 or spot patterns in hundreds and units, but after just five minutes practicing without the counting chart, she managed it on her own straight away.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mt Druitt Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Dawson Public School.
