The most important things a chemistry tutor can do for a student are to provide clear explanations, offer patient guidance, foster a supportive learning environment, adapt teaching strategies to suit the student's needs, and instill confidence in their abilities. As a tutor, I believe my strengths lie in my ability to explain complex concepts in…

Encouraging and patient when explaining concepts to students. Tutors need to provide encouragement as this will build both motivation within the student to do well in a subject, and increase their overall confidence in a difficult topic. I believe setting achievable goals is also an important thing a chemistry tutor can do. Patience is also…

As I alluded to earlier, I think the student's enjoyment is extremely important. That's not to say that they should be having fun at the expense of gaining knowledge, much the contrary; I think the best way for a student to gain knowledge that will last beyond the next test or exam is to have it conveyed in such a way that they take a genuine…

I believe the most important thing a chemistry tutor can offer a child is patience. Impatience does not create a suitable learning environment. Qualities like these can prevent a child from wanting to learn, they may negatively associate with the subject, putting them further behind. Every child can succeed, given enough time. I have strengths as…

Most importantly, a student should be motivated and encouraged so that he studies with interest. He should be made to feel that if he failed to understand a concept once, it is perfectly fine and he should keep trying. He should be taught the actual meaning of the word 'Competition' , which is to beat his / her own last performance and not anyone…

In my opinion, as a chemistry tutor, it is very important to cherish the students as they progressed, acknowledging their work and encourage them to try to do with their full potential. Besides, it is important to have an understanding of their best way of learning, and encourage them to question in their learning. Furthermore, awareness of their…

I strongly believe that tutor are in a position, where they can not only help the student with solving a problem, but also build their confidence so that they become confident in solving any type of problems independently. It is also about teaching them how to approach a question instead of giving them the answers. For example, helping them to…

For high school students, I find that the most important thing a chemistry tutor can do is to build a student's confidence in their own abilities. More often than not, I hear student's say that they don't know what they're doing, which can hold them back from trying their best. It's a fact of psychology that people tend to sabotage their own…

The most important thing that a chemistry tutor can do is teach them to learn. Not everyone learns the same way so we should identify the childrens strength and cater to their needs so that they can become good independent learners in the future My biggest strength as a tutor is patience. I think the best tutor is one who guides the students properly and fairly not only in their academics but also about life challenges. It would have to be that a tutor can teach a student a one on one lesson and help him improve his understanding about different ways to approach a maths or english problem which will in turn help the student extremely in the future. A tutor must be like a very smart class mate which doesnt give you the answer directly but instead takes him time to…

I want to thank Ezy Maths Tutoring, as Joshua seems to have connected well with David and is working with his strengths. Already we are seeing a difference in the confidence of David to tackle his Maths and is being guided to see the areas that he is lacking instead of total self doubt of thinking that he knows nothing .

Inside Elizabeth ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Kody focused on division and addition through step-by-step practice, also tackling multiplication in a later session.

Year 8 student Chase worked on comparing and contrasting media types for English, and completed a history assignment about Viking transportation, shipbuilding materials, and the role of horses using his own research.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Sienna revised lines and angles by solving geometry problems, then moved on to constructing triangles with a protractor while discussing the exterior angle property.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student in mathematics showed strong mental calculation skills, but as noted, "the writing part takes a back seat," leading to skipped steps and confusion when reviewing algebraic work.

In Year 8 geometry, incomplete recall of angle names and properties meant solutions were correct but lacked clear reasoning—this made revision less effective.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student struggled to remember key facts for worded problems and lost track of multi-step calculations without written support.

When homework or essential materials were forgotten (Year 6), progress in mastering new content slowed noticeably during the lesson.

Recent Achievements

One Elizabeth Park tutor noticed Chelsea, a high school student, now tackles equations with much more independence—she regularly completes her homework neatly and asks clarifying questions as soon as something feels unclear, which marks a big shift from her earlier hesitation to speak up.

In another session, Caitlin was able to apply trigonometric ratios quickly to unfamiliar word problems; she previously needed step-by-step prompting but now moves through new examples on her own initiative.

Meanwhile, Chase in primary years has begun using the finger-tap method unprompted when spelling tricky words—a strategy he used to avoid because it felt slow—and recently finished a full puzzle round without needing help.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Playford Civic Centre Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Elizabeth Park Primary School.
