Finding ways to help them in understanding key concepts e.g. using simpler language to explain in my best possible way. Proofing reading my student's work is also important especially math questions as one mistake could lead to a subsequent one, i would teach student ways to proof read their work during exams. I think the greatest gift a tutor can provide to a student is support. School can often be an isolating and intimidating experience, and often students, despite being remarkably talented, feel afraid to take risks and go beyond what is expected of them. A tutor can also make the learning experience far more rewarding and enjoyable. Students feel…

Making students regain the confidence they loose on themselves when they see they're not getting the results they expected. Feeling like you're not good enough at something really takes a toll on you and having someone help you through that makes going to class every day and the stress of exams much more bearable. I think I connect with children…

1. Give them a correct perspective 2. Encourage them to do better and try things, even if they do wrong they should be. That's how they will learn from mistakes and excel. I think I focus on basics, and can see from the perspective of a student. What the student wants and how the students wants is something I think can gauge…

I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student are to build their confidence, make learning approachable, and guide them to become independent learners. It’s not just about explaining the subject—it’s about helping them believe they can do it. A good tutor listens, encourages questions, and creates a space where the…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be patient. A trait I consider to be very important as a tutor is being a good leader. They should be very responsible for their actions, meaning that they will ensure each tutoring session is effective for the student. They should also be assertive, trustworthy and mindful, which helps them offer guidance to other students. Lastly, they should keep an open…

I believe a tutor's role goes beyond teaching; it involves actively supporting students, understanding their perspectives, and identifying the challenges they face in order to guide them effectively. Local Reviews

My daughter has only had 2 sessions with Jasmine but already she is motivated and has a much better understanding of the areas of concern. I high recommended EzyMath tutoring. Great followup and communication. Looking forward to seeing more fantastic results.

Inside GordonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Alice practised simplifying algebraic expressions and converting word problems into equations, focusing on building confidence with basic algebra.

For Year 9, Ben worked through solving inequalities and applying scientific notation in real-world contexts like time and tax calculations.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Sarah tackled financial mathematics topics such as depreciation and interpreting normal distribution curves using past exam questions for revision.

Recent Challenges

In Year 7, a student's algebra work suffered from messy handwriting and unclear working out, which led to confusion when reviewing factorisation steps. "He gets confused over his own working out," a tutor observed during practice with equations—time was lost retracing logic instead of learning new techniques.

In Year 10 financial maths, notes were sometimes disorganised or incomplete; extra incomes and expenses became mixed up, making it difficult to check answers later.

For a senior student tackling parametric equations in Year 12, heavy reliance on school notes proved risky when errors crept in—"we did not manage to use most part of it."

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Gordon noticed one Year 10 student who used to get stuck on multi-step algebraic equations now starts each problem by outlining the process aloud, making fewer errors and needing less prompting.

A Year 11 student who previously hesitated with financial maths has begun working through tax and expense calculations independently, even finishing homework before sessions without reminders.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 student surprised her tutor by breaking down complex shapes into smaller parts to calculate area—something she struggled with last term—and then chose to try an extra challenge question on her own.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Ku-ring-gai Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Ravenswood School for Girls, Boarding House.
