As a tutor, the most important thing I can do for a student is to be available whenever they need me. In the past, students have had questions 1 hour before their exams. They have my number so they can contact me as needed and I will reply ASAP to explain what they are struggling with. To be a tutor is to be a source of knowledge that they can…

I believe that it is paramount for a tutor to understand that every student learns differently and therefore may need a different approach to studying to achieve their goals. A tutor should ask their student how they learn best and implement this feedback into their approach to tutoring. Similarly, it is important to understand that each student…

My strengths are good communication skills, flexibility, patience, understanding the students' problems, and guide them accordingly. Other strengths would include being more…

I believe in the importance of developing a student's own independent thinking skills, so that they gather the confidence to correctly respond to any problem that an exam or test may pose individually as I, the tutor, will not be there to help in assessments. By doing this, the student can cement beneficial study habits and obtain their academic…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student are assisting them with their studies and provide comfort. I do not think tutors should spoon-feed answers to students as that will not help them fully understand and learn. Other than that, I believe the ability to comfort and reassure students is extremely important for tutors. I have met…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is build a student's confidence and self trust, as this often leads to improved performance. I make lessons engaging by involving students in each step, encouraging questions and critical thinking, and emphasising both independent learning and problem solving. Tutoring help students to get a better grip on the subject. Tutors can give special attention to their students and can solve their doubts and which they don't get clear in the classroom. Students can get in routine to study a subject. I am very patient, if my students cant solve a problem I find out on which step of the solution they are getting…

The most important thing a tutor can do for their student is relate to them. Everyone is different and learns in a different way. Hence, you must adjust your method of teaching for each individual student. Some people are auditory, visual or written learners, some like algebra, calculus, or trigonometry. Moreover, if you are understanding of your…

I believe that when the right tutor is paired with the right student, they can help the student to understand the pleasure of academic subjects. The first and foremost is being patient. Not everyone can learn and understand concepts at the same pace, so patience is very important. Trying different learning styles when the initial learning style doesn't work is another one, because people don't learn the same way. I'm very good at breaking down complex concepts into clear,…

The best tutors and educators remember the importance of being lifelong learners. I feel a tutor can help the student by personalizing the learning according to the needs of the student by incorporating connections to the students' interests. A tutor must teach to the student's strengths and minimize the student's weaknesses. Tutors should…

Try make tutoring fun, students no matter how hard you try will not retain information and be willing to learn if they are really against it. One of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to be proud of all the improvements the student has done. It's not about congratulating them for being a high achieving student. A tutor can be kind and patient with the student and open to any kind of question, however basic it might be and not ridicule the child. The tutor can also repeat the same thing until the student had finally grasped the concept so that they are completely confident. Having grown up around teachers, I have learnt a lot from them. I have learnt to…

Local Reviews

When we wanted some tailored math support for our daughter and contacted the Ezymath team, we were placed in contact with local tutors in less than 24 hours. The monthly reports can be quite comprehensive too -and the team is always ready to answer any follow up questions you may have. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Ezymath to anyone wishing to give their child a boost!

Inside Middle ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Orlah worked through probability and statistics, including box-and-whisker plots and five-figure summaries.

For Year 10, Samuel reviewed trigonometry by combining bearings with SOHCAHTOA and practiced using sine and cosine rules for non-right triangles.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Ava focused on solving and plotting linear equations as well as calculating gradients and y-intercepts from graphs.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student often forgot to bring essential materials, like their textbook, which meant lessons relied on makeshift resources.

In Year 11 Maths, a tutor noted: "He sometimes thinks he knows the material beforehand," leading to missed steps when new concepts were introduced.

One Year 7 student consistently wrote working in cramped spaces during long division; this caused errors that had to be retraced later.

For SAT preparation (Year 12), homework was left incomplete and feedback not acted upon, so gaps in rearranging equations persisted into practice sessions—leaving accuracy and confidence shaky under timed conditions.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Middle Park recently saw Monet, a Year 8 student, start tackling her homework without waiting for prompts—something she'd previously hesitated to do.

In Year 10, one student who used to rush through negative number problems took extra time this week and managed arithmetic with negatives much more accurately.

Another high schooler made a noticeable shift: after weeks of uncertainty with bearings and trigonometry, Saskia confidently combined bearings and SOHCAHTOA methods to calculate distances on her own for the first time.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Middle Park Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Middle Park Primary School.
