The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be patient, understading and to listen. This allows for the student to be comfortable and be in a space where they can learn at an optimal rate and feel comfortable to ask any questions related to the work. I am understanding and have the ability to empathise with the student, allowing me…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where the student feels comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. A tutor should also be patient, adaptable, and able to explain concepts in ways that match the student’s learning style. Beyond academics, I think…

Knowing something is a whole story, but teaching what I know is a completely different level. The most important thing is that tutors are able to summarise while teaching and ensure the repetition in each lesson. Also, maintaining a healthy relationship with students is significant for both parents' care and students' comfortable learning…

The most important things a tutor can do are listen, observe, and adapt. Understanding how a student learns allows a tutor to provide strategies that are genuinely effective for that individual. I firmly believe every student is capable of succeeding, and it is a tutor's role to build their confidence alongside their knowledge, creating a…

I believe being able to provide a dependable and welcoming support system for a student is one of the most important things a tutor should do. Based on personal experience, I struggled with finding and being willing to approach teachers at school for help and support with studies. However, it was because I was able to turn to my tutors, who I…

I value honesty in tutoring. Student should not hide their lack of understanding in one topic. As a tutor, I can create a close teacher-student relationship, where my students can honestly share their difficulties. I understand that it is more important how we lead student into thinking critically, not absorbing information and replicate it one…

The most important thing I can do as a tutor is help my students build confidence in their ability to learn and solve problems. I know many students struggle not because of a lack of ability, but because of limiting beliefs such as ‘I can’t do this’ or ‘everyone else understands this’. I believe changing these thoughts is essential to…

One of the most important things tutor can do for a student is provide them with a lot of feedbacks as well as lots of revision. Being able to teach in a way where students are readily motivated and inspired by the way you teach. Just being a support for the student in question. Now, obviously, the first idea to jump to there is academically, and this is super important, of course, but also school is a naturally difficult time for a lot of students for a large variety of reasons, and even if the tutor nor student realize it, being there to help dealing with it is a massive…

I consider the ability to create good habits from a young age as one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student. However, for older students, it’s also very important to make sure that your students are completing the work to their full ability. I believe that the best tutors must empower students to believe they can learn anything; they celebrate small wins to make learning feel rewarding, not stressful. This helps them see the progress that they made, even if it's from small steps. Additionally, I believe that tutors must be able to build confidence, personalise learning, and inspire…

I think the most important thing a tutor can offer to a younger student is their experience, similar to that of a mentor. I believe a tutor must not only be an academic mentor but must also help students maintain a positive outlook on learning. I believe…

We decided to use EzyMath when our daughter started High School. We were partnered up with a fabulous tutor. She made Maths enjoyable and easier to understand as well as being easy going and friendly. On dealing with EzyMath head office on a monthly basis, they were professional, prompt with dealing with any queries and very accommodating. I would highly recommend their services to anyone looking for a tutor.

Inside AbbotsburyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Jamie worked on applying Pythagoras' Theorem to various triangle problems and used Venn diagrams for calculating probabilities.

In Year 10, Sarah focused on graphing parabolas by identifying intercepts and turning points, then practised shifting parabolas horizontally and vertically.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Jonathon revised the laws of logarithms through challenging practice questions and tackled differentiation problems using first principles.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student hesitated to start solving questions in class, leading to delays: "He takes too long to take the first step, to start."

In senior English (Year 11), another found it difficult to link analysis directly back to the question and struggled with using PETAL effectively for short answers.

For Year 8 maths, one learner relied on brief, one-word responses and rarely voiced his reasoning aloud—confidence issues limited deeper discussion.

Meanwhile, a Year 12 student over-complicated straightforward calculus problems, causing her to get stuck rather than progressing smoothly through differentiation tasks. The moment stretched out as uncertainty replaced momentum.

Recent Achievements

One Abbotsbury tutor noticed a Year 11 student has become much more independent, now walking through her thought process out loud and explaining solutions step-by-step—something she rarely did before.

In another session, a high schooler who used to hesitate when faced with new question types started attempting every problem on his assignment, even if unsure, showing real initiative instead of waiting for guidance.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student who previously guessed at answers is now confidently asking questions whenever he gets stuck and was able to finish all the percentage problems in his pre-test without any help.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Green Valley Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Edensor Park Public School.
