During our sessions I strongly emphasize on making good use of pen and paper. Noting down important points before staring the actual writing work is a useful technique to organize ideas and decide the flow of the writing piece. Back checking, note taking, good corrections, seeking understanding are consistently used during the tutorial sessions. Daniel has started using these for his writing tasks and with more practice he will keep getting better at it.
Andrew has a great attitude towards learning new ways of solving mathematical problems. He just needs to put a little more effort into attempting problems and confidence to work through questions of any difficulty. Also, I need to reinforce that it is fine to make mistakes, but definitely learn from them. I am not too sure about his work habits at the moment, but I feel like a little more practice on algebra specific questions would help him out significantly in math as a whole.
So far, we have only gone through about half the year twelve linear algebra component to the general maths syllabus in addition to completing any required homework for the week. Initially, there was quite a lot of gaps in this topic but she has shown major improvement. General foundations of mathematics such as algebra and indices laws.

It is a great pleasure for us too, to see Vas enjoying his lessons, and trying his utmost hardest to listen and catch up. This is all due to Jake too, he is a very big favourite to Vas, he loves his lessons with him, as he explains everything they are doing till Vas understands.
Things are going great - James got over 90% in a recent test, and said it felt easy because he understood it. That's what I want to hear.
James has got off to a good start-in his first test this week, he got 91% in his specialist exam. Matthew is able to work through all the challenging questions with James and ensure that he understands the theory behind the maths. I definitely feel that James has commenced Semester 2 with a more positive approach to Specialist Maths and I look forward to seeing improved results.
