Genuinely understanding the students need and tailoring the best approach of teaching accordingly is the best thing a tutor can do. No students are same and have same level of intelligence and this should be considered by the teacher. As a tutor, my biggest strength is that i genuinely love teaching not just solving problems, but explaining deeply…

I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student are to build their confidence, make learning approachable, and guide them to become independent learners. It’s not just about explaining the subject—it’s about helping them believe they can do it. A good tutor listens, encourages questions, and creates a space where the…

A tutor should help students develop both understanding and confidence. This means identifying gaps in their knowledge, explaining concepts in a way that suits their learning style, and encouraging them to think independently rather than relying on answers. Building a positive relationship, setting achievable goals, and providing consistent…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is help students gain confidence and develop a genuine understanding of the subject rather than just memorizing answers. A good tutor should be patient, encouraging, and able to adapt to each student’s needs and pace of learning. Building trust, motivating students, and making learning less…

I think the greatest gift a tutor can provide to a student is support. School can often be an isolating and intimidating experience, and often students, despite being remarkably talented, feel afraid to take risks and go beyond what is expected of them. A tutor can also make the learning experience far more rewarding and enjoyable. Students feel…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is help a student become confident and independent in their learning. While improving grades is important, a great tutor should also teach students how to think critically, solve problems, and approach challenges with confidence. Help the student overcome their fear, and develop new skills to improve and work on their weaknesses. Try to seek help when they need it and learn how to deal with new challenges everyday without fear. Communication is the key for everything. 1. Give them a correct perspective 2. Encourage them to do better and try things, even if they do wrong they should be. That's how they will learn from mistakes and excel. I think I focus on basics, and can see from the perspective of a student. What the student wants and how the students wants is something I think can gauge…

I believe that tutors and teachers alike are not endless sources of book knowledge but rather a librarian who must guide students to discover, interpret and apply knowledge for themselves. Thus, it is crucial that a tutor forms a strong relationship with its students to create an environment where student learning is maximised. Further, in…

Make sure the student has the right attitude towards studying and enjoying as well. I personally think enjoying what you are doing is the most important. Building confidence so a student tells themselves "I can do this if I try." But equally, making sure that confidence never stops them from asking for help when stuck. Both matter. Beyond that, earning the student's trust comes first. A student who trusts their tutor stops hiding confusion and starts engaging honestly. That is when real learning…

We were a little bit picky about the kind of tutor we wanted, however, Ezy Tutor found the right kind of person for our child, and they were respectful of the type of person we were looking for. I would recommend Ezy Tutor to anyone looking for great quality tutoring at home.

Inside RydeTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 3 student Olivia focused on understanding contractions using apostrophes in English and then practiced identifying rhyming words and meaning within poetry, before tackling addition, subtraction, multiplication, and word problem strategies in Mathematics.

For Year 10, Jack worked through simultaneous equations as well as exploring the properties of surds and indices, ensuring solid foundations ahead of upcoming school topics.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Sarah revised algebraic expressions and continued practicing linear equations, using a mix of written exercises to build fluency with key skills.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9, one student often relied on a calculator for simple arithmetic, like "1/2 x 1/2 x 1/2," which slowed mental math development.

During a Year 11 trigonometry lesson, rushing led to confusion between tan x and x itself—She needs to read questions more carefully to avoid very careless, preventable mistakes.

In Year 7 statistics, messy working sometimes caused numbers to be missed when calculating mean or median until highlighters were used.

A senior student tackling networks struggled with time management in exams; complex questions risked taking up too much time and affecting completion of other sections.

Recent Achievements

One Ryde tutor noted a Year 10 student who, after weeks of struggling with quadratic equations, now confidently solves them using both the quadratic formula and the cross method—last session, she even explained her steps out loud without prompting.

In Year 8 maths, a previously hesitant student surprised his tutor by independently breaking down irregular prisms into familiar shapes to calculate volume, something he'd avoided trying alone before.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 learner in English picked up on new backchecking strategies and started speaking her answers aloud throughout the lesson; she required almost no reassurance as she worked through each question.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Ryde Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Ryde Public School.
