What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
To be able to see the growth in your students in terms of confidence and interest in the subject. It is always heartwarming to see them feel more confident tackling the subject and starting to ask you questions about the subject beyond just getting the right answer.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am a highly experienced tutor who excels in breaking down complex concepts into bite-sized ideas to help students understand concepts better. I employ a range of pedagogical methods to encourage and nurture interest in the subject as this is very important in developing confidence in students.
I regularly carry out needs assessments for students - this helps them understand what they know and do not know which is a great step toward improving their grades. The majority of my students see a 2-grade improvement after about 1 year of tutoring.
For Mathematics and English, I am more familiar with helping grades 10 and below. For Economics, I am highly experienced in teaching all the way to grade 12.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Build their confidence! A lot of the struggles come from the fact that students are not meeting "expectations" but do not know what 'they do not know' and that makes it difficult for them to improve. This sets off a nasty downward spiral where they feel they are not good enough and lose confidence in themselves, which naturally leads to less motivation to improve. So to me, the most important thing is to engage students in interesting lessons with mini-goals and encouragement so that they will find confidence and footing in the subject at hand.
