What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I have previous tutoring experience as a volunteer peer tutor in high school, as well as experience as a swim teacher for disabled children. In both of these roles I found that it felt extremely rewarding to see a student grow and improve their skills week by week. Seeing students satisfaction and pride about achieving things they never thought possible is a key reason why I want to begin commercial tutoring.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

What sets me apart from other tutors is that I am intent on showing students that achieving high results can be possible while still being able to spend time with friends and family or playing sports. These things are crucial to your mental health which, in turn, is crucial to your studies. My strength is that I can demonstrate that science and math subjects are not as scary as they seem and if you approach them correctly, you can spend less time at the desk and more time doing the things you love.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

The most important things a tutor can do for a student would lead with teaching students to learn to love the subjects they study, but if that is impossible to achieve, then showing them that the subjects they struggle with aren't as daunting as they seem. Tutors should be able to simplify difficult content into ways that students can understand, which may differ with each student. Lastly, a tutor should be like a friend for a student in order to break down the student-teacher dissonance that causes feelings of disconnection in students, ultimately leading to an academic downfall.
