What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I thoroughly enjoy the one-to-one aspect of tutoring. As a teacher, I am aware of how much pupils can improve when they receive the full attention of a teacher. Given this aspect, I also enjoy discovering the best way for my pupils to learn. I am aware that with tutoring there is not a 'one size fits all' approach and I thrive on the challenge of getting to know what works best for each pupil. I also enjoy getting to know pupils and their families, having worked with some children over the course of many months or even years.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My interpersonal skills and organisation are my main strengths as a tutor. I ensure that my pupils feel comfortable when they are learning and they can ask questions, especially those who struggle with confidence in class. Additionally, I seek to understand the perspective of the pupil as we learn so that they remain engaged in tasks and challenges. I am a very organised tutor, with clear tasks and goals set out for my pupils. I make full use of the time I spend with pupils. For example, I might offer written feedback on a task while a pupil completes another written task.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe that a tutor should inspire confidence. Many of the pupils I have tutored have had more ability in English than they had first realised. What they needed was more time with an experienced teacher to ask questions and gain understanding of texts which they could not successfully do in class. Pupils in my charge are given clear instructions how to complete tasks which they can use in class and in exams. I also ensure that my teaching supplements the learning pupils receive in class to ensure that their confidence builds with the knowledge that their learning experiences are related.
