What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
One of the most rewarding aspects of tutoring is watching your students grow to understand and appreciate learning about the subject, especially when it comes to English.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I would say that my experience as a student tutor has made me realise that patience and empathy are the greatest strengths to have, along with a well-rounded knowledge of texts. Furthermore, I've developed the skills necessary to apply technical analysis to different texts of the same genre, e.g., Shakespearean plays, poetry, movies, novels, and speeches.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The skill of empathy towards a student is possibly one of the most important things a tutor should be equipped with, in that they need to recognise that while you're an expert on the material, the student is learning it for the first time. Thus, tutors like myself need to be able to present concepts that the student can understand, i.e., using metaphors that utilise the student's hobbies and interests. This also means that building a rapport with the student is crucial to understanding what kinds of learning methods that student engages with best.
