What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy helping students improve their understanding of different mathematical and science concepts and tailor my teaching method according to students' needs and desired approach.
I also enjoy finding innovative ways to keep the student engaged and have the best possible retention of the tutored concept. For example, to teach the circumference concept of a circle, I used thread to measure the circumference and urged them to find a pattern. In turn, the observed pattern led them to the formula
C = 2( pi) r
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe I am good at identifying the key areas students might be struggling in, even when they might not explicitly state it. Hence, in those times, I try to give them additional questions for practice and test them on a regular basis.
I also believe that similar to communication skills being essential for every tutor, listening skills are even more important. Therefore, I try to be a good listener and understand the students' struggles and perspectives to provide them with the best experience possible.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be open to their teaching methods. If a student doesn't understand a concept from their previously used method, the tutors should try and approach it from a different angle instead of teaching it using the same way.
For example, I once spent half a lesson teaching a concept which the student could not understand properly. At first, I was disheartened, but I went home did a bit more research to find the next best method for teaching the concept. Through this, I was able to teach the concept within fifteen minutes in the next class.
