My Strengths as Tutor
I think a strength of mine is to be able to explain and teach concepts in a way that is easy to understand. I think I have a good grasp of what makes sense to the student and I can use this to enable me to clarify abstract topics in a much more tangeable fashion.
In terms of weaknesses, I sometimes find it difficult to empathise with the student when they just don't understand something that is very clear to me. However, I am very aware of this and make sure I monitor myself so I can ensure I am empathising as much as possible. In my past experience, it has not been an issue.
Most important things I can do for a student
I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to give them the skills to be confident in their own learning. I have seen first hand that for a student, struggling at school is not only academically unadvisable, but can cause great anxiety and difficulty at school. Some skills come easier to some students than others, and there is no shame in needing some extra support from a tutor. I think having a tutor can help alleviate both of these problems and allows the student to progress with all the skills necessary to succeed in school, and life.
