What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Despite having not done tutoring as a job, I enjoyed sharing knowledge and helping people with mathematics through out the 2021 HSC period, especially during the lock down. I believe I will find tutoring to be enjoyable for the same reason, as it involves teaching students new skills and explaining complicated concepts.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am enthusiastic and interested in the subjects of science and maths, and would love to help students develop their own interest in those subjects through discussing the subjects in detail.
I also have access to a wide range of resources relevant to students doing maths and sciences, such as exam papers and worksheets.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student are as follows:
-Making sure that the student understands the content that is taught , instead of only knowing how to complete questions. This will allow the student to apply their knowledge to unseen question.
-Be a friendly person that they can talk to by getting to know the students personally. This will help them to be more comfortable asking for help as well as feeling happier about learning.
-Be available to help the student even outside tutoring hours, for example helping them with difficult schoolwork.

Levi was better at rearranging simple equations compared to the previous week. He was also familiar with indices laws and financial maths problems, and was able to solve most of the questions I gave him on those topics independently.
He could not recall some of the equations for calculating volumes and areas, as well as the quadratic equation. However, Levi understood how to use those equations to solve related problems after being given the equations. He should also familiarise himself with the shapes of different functions.

Levi struggles with older content involving algebra. He understood most of the algebraic techniques needed for the questions, but could not apply them to equations that require multiple steps to solve.

Levi had a good understanding of line of best fit and correlation, and could independently solve related problems in this topic. He was also able to recall how to calculate the area of 2d shapes from the previous lesson.
He should try to familiarise himself the area formula for shapes, since sometimes he needed to be given a formula in order to calculate areas of certain shapes(trapezium and composite shapes).

By the end of the lesson, Levi was able to consistently calculate the area and volumes of simple shapes with the aid of formulas, as well as recalling how to factorise and expand simple equations.
He could not recall trigonometry rules, and needed to be reminded on how to approach trigonometry questions.
