What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I love to investigate how my tutees work out a problem. I enjoy encouraging them to think deeply about why something is true. And I enjoy seeing them make connections between the problem at hand and the basic principles they have learnt. I am satisfied when a student can explain why a fact is consistent or inconsistent with their intuition.
My favourite thing about tutoring is when a session flows well because the student is engaged - the activities are challenging enough to promote new understandings, but the student is confident enough to use their existing knowledge.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I tutor with compassion. My tutees benefit from the knowledge that I have their back. The students I work with feel comfortable making and learning from their mistakes.
I have meticulously planned sessions. And I promote deep understanding.
I also actively ask the tutee for feedback and encourage the tutee to direct their own learning. Thus, my tutees have the confidence to take control of their learning.
Most important things I can do for a student π
Promote the student's self-belief.
Encourage them to arise at their own conclusions and think critically about the implications of their ideas.
Ensure they feel safe and intellectually supported.
Develop and maintain a dynamic understanding of my student's confidence and learning level. Thus, the student is intellectually guided in the right direction, at the right speed.
Offer my student a personalised and alternative perspective from their classroom environment.
