We have all had the experience of a "bad teacher" and we know it's not pleasant. Often the teacher is simply a bad match for that particular student rather than being a "bad teacher" in general but in either case the student has a serious problem. This is why many parents contact us for a private tutor - their child just can't "get it" when their teacher is teaching. This is why many parents contact us for a private tutor - their child just can't "get it" when their teacher is teaching.
It's incredible how one explanation results in more confusion whereas another results in that "aha" feeling we all love so much! It is really a matter of getting the "right" tutor and not the "best" one. We see this every day in our work. A tutor might have hundreds of hours of experience and might have received dozens of testimonials from students, however, even such a tutor doesn't click with all students. Every tutor gets bad feedback sometimes. It's all about getting the right fit and this is what we do!

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Seb has improved greatly with his self questioning, talking aloud and confidence, which i have focused on mostly improving this month. He already had a great desire for understanding and is very good at putting pen to paper. Now that Seb has grown in confidence i will also be able to focus on teaching him that its okay to be wrong and to keep working on avoiding lazy thinking.
Katrina shows a good attitude towards learning maths. She takes good notes during school classes and is attentive and up to date. Katrina has been putting in great effort this semester for maths. She has asked her teacher about any queries she had. Katrina continues to show great work habits. Her homework seems to be regular and of a good level.
Improved areas: long multiplication with 2 or more digits, long addition and subtraction. Finding areas and perimeters and financial maths. Gaps: some of his times tables Needs to work on his times tables (he already knows which ones he needs work on)
Jane is doing a fantastic job communicating and breaking things down for Chelsea.
I have got to say that Miles is absolutely perfect. Besides being prompt and all that, his explanations are so good that Roland shares them with his school friends to enable them to understand tricky concepts in class. They inevitably will say “Oh, I understand now!” He is making Maths Methods manageable.
So far we are very happy with our classes I am sure as we progress jacob will start to see the improvements
