We have all had the experience of a "bad teacher" and we know it's not pleasant. Often the teacher is simply a bad match for that particular student rather than being a "bad teacher" in general but in either case the student has a serious problem. This is why many parents contact us for a private tutor - their child just can't "get it" when their teacher is teaching. It's incredible how one explanation results in more confusion whereas another results in that "aha" feeling we all love so much! It is really a matter of getting the "right" tutor and not the "best" one. We see this every day in our work. A tutor might have hundreds of hours of experience and might have received dozens of testimonials from students, however, even such a tutor doesn't click with all students. Every tutor gets bad feedback sometimes. It's all about getting the right fit and this is what we do!

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Jack has begun to write down his processes more which has helped him improve accuracy. He takes notes and is generally confident in trying new things. He has exceptional transfer skills. He appears to back-check his work mostly but would be good to make sure he is back-checking each part of the question as he does it. This would ensure further accuracy in his answers.
I am glad that I was able to build up a very strong relationship with Yasmin in short amount of time. This is very important to make tutoring very effective. I will be working on building self-confidence with Yasmine in the coming sessions.
Mostly a keen student who likes to ask questions to seek understanding. Perhaps work on topics such as fractions. She should practice some earlier knowledge of year 7 topics to strengthen the concepts encountered in year eight.
Ben continues to have great rapport with Kai and I think he even looks forward to the lessons which I can tell give him much more confidence.
Sarah is finding the tutoring with Shabana very helpful. Sarah has has three tutoring sessions and Shabana has been explaining concepts or questions which Sarah found confusing. I really like the way Shabana interacts with Sarah and how she keeps reminding her about the importance of practising.
I am very pleased to provide feedback. Matthew has been outstanding, polite, punctual and an excellent tutor. He is an asset to your business and please pass on our commendation.
