What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy the "Aha moment" when a student finally begins to understand something they have been having trouble with. The most rewarding thing as a tutor is to know that you helped a student understand something new.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
As a tutor, I like to focus on the student, and their needs, not on the material. When a student doesn't understand something, specifically in a math problem, I like to take a break, and work through the problem step by step to find exactly where they got lost and what is confusing. I also like to explain WHY things work, especially in math, because as a student, I understood the concepts, but didn't understand what they were actually used for. I like to make students exited about learning by making sure they understand the importance of the concepts.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
A tutor needs to understand a student's learning style. If a student is a visual learner, explaining concepts verbally doesn't help. The most important thing a tutor can do is individualize sessions to the students rather than trying a one size fits all approach.
