My Strengths as Tutor
The biggest strengths I would bring to this job are my mathematical ability (desribed above) and my communication skills. My communication skills have been greatly developed though my university studies due to the importance it will have on my future carrer (a veterinarian); this combined with 4.5 years experience working in retail means I have greatly developed this key skill. My one weakness would be having no professional tutoring, however I have had informal tutoring experience and am always willing to learn and develop my current skills.
Most important things I can do for a student
I believe there are two vitally important things a tutor can do for a student. The first, and more obvious one, is enhanching the students ability in the chosen subject. This, I believe, can only be achieved through the second important thing, in building the students confidence in the ability they possess. I beleieve it is the role of the tutor to work on not only the technical ability of the student, but on their confidence. By egaging in conversionations with the student it is possible, as a team, to find the best method of learning that can be used to achieve the best possible results.
