What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I find the experience of allowing students to reach their full potential, after initially not understanding a topic very well, extremely rewarding. As well as this, I love walking through more difficult problems with students, and seeing them completely understand the solution and be able to solve similar problems in the future.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe my biggest strength as a tutor is knowing which problems to give students at a given time. I am able to gauge what level they are at based on the start of my lessons, where I do a review on the underlying theory behind a topic, and then give a few easier questions to solve. If students are able to do this with ease, we move on to more difficult problems in order to build their problem solving skills. If they are less confident, however, I will spend time refining the skills needed for more complex problems with easier exercises. Another strength is being able to cater to all students
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is not only boost their confidence in a subject, but also their enthusiasm for the subject. Giving students who are bored with the content as they find it too easy more difficult problems peaks their interest, as I have seen in the past. Students who are struggling and as a result lose interest in the course on the other hand are always more engaged after they are taught to the extent in an area they are struggling with that they are able to solve the problems with ease, as students always like to see progress in themselves.

Kailey's Algebraic skills continue to improve as we move through this content. She was quick to know which form of the point gradient formula to know for all the questions we tried.
While her algebraic skills are improving, she still occasionally made errors that I would have liked to see ironed out by this point. I would also like to be moving through some of the content a bit faster in the future so she is up to speed with what she is learning in class. That being said, I've definitely noticed that we have been able to greatly accelerate the learning process over the last few weeks.

Definitely saw a lot of improvement in understanding how to perform operations between algebraic variables, as well as the technique involved in solving algebraic equations. Kailey was able to independently solve linear equations by the end of the lesson.
Struggled a bit with the more difficult linear equations, especially with more than one variable involved. I have suggested constant practice in this regard as the techniques involved in this content are essential for the rest of the curriculum in year 12, and a lot of refining of this year 11 content is still required at this point in the year. Still, I definitely saw a lot of improvement from the previous lesson

Kailey had very good geometric intuition with solving these questions, and was able to perform algebra and substitutions on the formulas extremely well. I am definitely seeing improvement in this regard.
There was a bit of a struggle with working backwards with some of the formulas, that is, not using them exactly as was written but using them for more of a variety of questions. I taught a large variety of contexts these formulas could be used in, however, and I'm confident that by the end of the lesson, Kailey could work through these quite well.

Revision in this is absolutely necessary. For year 12 maths understanding of solving such equations is essential
