What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy helping others, and seeing them improve in their skills and confidence. There's a certain moment, when a concept or idea that they weren't quite grasping suddenly 'clicks', and their face lights up with new understanding - that moment is particularly satisfying for both the student and the tutor. During my studies, I also found that 'tutoring' my friends and peers helped me consolidate my own knowledge.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I feel that I am patient and knowledgeable, and able to explain concepts in a way that is easily understood. I also enjoy maths and applying it to problem solving; hopefully I can impart that same enthusiasm to students. Furthermore, as a recent VCE student myself, the experiences and pressure are still fresh in my mind, and should allow me to better connect to students and how they are feeling.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
First and foremost, the tutor needs to help the student fully understand all the core concepts. Comprehending the underlying logic and reasoning in mathematical concepts, and the skill to be able to apply these to problems, are necessary for success in mathematics. After that comes exam or test-specific advice: what working markers expect, how to save time in exam conditions, how to efficiently use the CAS calculator, and so on.
